Doodle Request #5!

You have no idea what you've done. This doodle request has made me spiral into making my own self indulgent au.

I've never more times in my life used 'cause I want to' as an excuse for something. This entire au is just self indulgent fluff. At first, I looked at the request and went 'oh, they probably don't realize how small hedgehogs are or how big baby foxes are.' and then I was like 'okay, but Mobian'. AND THEN I was like 'okay, but it'd be funny if Sonic was like- almost an adult in this drawing.' and it just spiraled into this. I want to make so many more doodles of this au FUCK.

So everything isn't set in stone yet, aside form their ages I think.

Amy is 19, she's studying to become a teacher. She works at a daycare.

Sonic is 22, he picks up odd jobs where ever he travels in his van.

Tails is 8, he also picks up odd jobs, but more mechanically centered ones (and way less jobs because Sonic will not allow the kit to overwork himself).

Knuckles is 23, he guards the Master Emerald still, but he also is a pro at arts and crafts (mostly pottery).

I know I wrote 'plane' in the doodles (if you can even read them, my handwriting is a nightmare there), but I was originally thinking van that Tails later modifies into a plane-van combo.

Do they have powers? Yes. Because I want them to. Are there magical gemstones? Yes. Because I want there to. Is Eggman trying to take over the world? Eh, I don't think so. I like chill vibes, plus how is Sonic gonna beat up a Motobug if he isn't even as tall as the tire? Why are they wearing clothes? Because I want them to! Why is everyone but Tails aged up? BECAUSE I WANT THEM TO (and it's funny to me).

Sonic and Tails live in a van (that he stole) and travel around. Sure, Sonic has super speed (he's not afraid of showing it off), but he just likes driving (he had to diy an entire system just so he could drive). Plus, it's fortunate that he stole that van, because carrying around supplies needed for a toddler already twice your size when you met them is definitely not light.

The short? Lives life like a wounded dog and HALLO NEW DOG AT THE DOGGY DAYCARE? FUCK YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The long is that Mesmer Jr is a deeply unwell character who’ll live with the consequences of Constantine conditioning her for the rest of her life. Constantine conditioned Mesmer to be near completely dependent on her despite the fact that she’s the source of majority of the trauma she goes through. From her graduating class dying, putting her in the rehab center so young, letting her near there at an even YOUNGER stage, basically training her to make her arcanum solely focus on something that’s actively hurting her. Even if Mesmer was taken away from Constantine, she would go back to her because in a world she was purposefully not taught to cope in, Constantine is a comfort. Even if she’s the cause, Constantine makes everything in order again for her. Trauma responses don’t have to be rational and Mesmer shows that. At the end of the day, Mesmer is closer to a wounded dog than a person.

Mesmer Jr who's used to being able to blend into the background next to Vertin and the others.

Medicine Pocket who goes up to Vertin’s group to ask if they wanna go run around in the grass. Medpocket and Vertin who run around for a while and then Sonetto joins them, then Matilda before noticing someone's still on the benches near the buildings. So they go up to Mesmer like “:D Why aren’t you coming with us, are you injured or something??” (We both know medicine pocket’s rude ass was absolutely a no filter child) and Mesmer Jr who already has anxiety up until that point esp around strangers, avoids talking to MedPocket.

Mesmer Jr who gets confused why this person is randomly talking to her, and even more so why they're so rude.

Medicine Pocket who refuses to give up on making everyone in the friend group accept them “I gotta be apart of the pack!”

Mesmer Jr who tried to avoid getting caught in the whirlwind of energy Medpocket stirs up in the group.

Medicine Pocket who notices assigns an animal (fursona) to everyone in the group and realizes Mesmer is the most like a dog in the group [Vertin is a cat (friendly but never truly tamable) , Sonetto is a Fox (sorry Pupnetto), and Matilda is a bird]

Mesmer Jr who just as on guard as MedPocket is observant and always looks over the group to check everyone is still there.

Medicine Pocket who approaches Mesmer like a scared dog: always alerting when they’re coming close, offering snacks, making sure to sit in their group during lunch time.

Mesmer Jr who's wary but still a kid like all of the others and accepts their snacks. Barely registering as MedPocket started taking the seats farthest from them in the group while still talking to her.

Medicine Pocket who tries sitting next to Mesmer while the others play outside again before noticing she seems too uncomfortable that close to a stranger

Mesmer Jr who's still jumpy around strangers but is slowly warming up to this weird kid.

Medicine Pocket who then tests how close they can get without her feeling threatened by a stranger (it’s Medpoc sitting on the ground on the other side of the bench)

Mesmer Jr who doesn't notice the way Medpocket is getting closer each day but feels something is off.

Mesmer Jr who's already integrated Medicine Pocket into her schedule without realizing their chaos brings her a weird sense of peace.

Unwell genius duo, the MeMe siblings. Mesmer Jr unironically gained coping with her anxiety despite Constantine exasperating it via Therapy Dog. (Years later, after Vereinsamt, Vertin comments about how she got a therapy dog and Mesmer bites back about Pupnetto.) Mesmer Jr has uncurable anxiety which she herself knows is too bad to be around others that stress her out, but if she grew up with MEDPOCKET?? I just know she'd be much more comfortable in the world cause she has another rock besides Constantine. On top of it, if that person was MEDPoCKET? Resident biter, literally ate their rulebook, their office sign has bitemarks, and they threatened to bite Laplace's DIRECTOR. Medicine Pocket is the perfect chaos to calm Mesmer down. Medicine Pocket IS an irrational arcanist but they make sense and they're very caring and considerate to their friends which is why they're so close in the main storyline. Mesmer isn't the slightest bit uncomfortable around them so if they GREW UP TOGETHER? Mocha by god I think you cracked the code cause this feral therapy dog is about to save Mesmer Racism Jr from so many bad habits and hurt later on. They'd really be each other's comfort and chaos and I love that for them.

Fox Abbottsford

Fox is a registered social worker. He's a longtime government employee in the Department of Community Services, and started his career working in the area of child protection. He switched over to working with social assistance benefits recipients for a few years, but his passion is in working with children, so he switched back. He's currently a supervisor in his department.

He's an artist, or as a handful of media outlets have described him, "a talented local artist". He's had a few gallery shows in Willow Creek and Newcrest over the years, and he's illustrated three children's books so far, with a fourth in the works.

He's a type 1 diabetic and has been since the age of six. He fervently hoped he wouldn't pass on that gene to any of his kids, but both Forest and Camellia are also diabetic.

He loves the water. When he and Takahiro were designing their house, one of Fox's requirements was that it had to have a pool so he could go swimming whenever he wanted. He's always found the water calming.

He used to have a pet fox named Ruby. People often remarked on the irony of a guy named Fox having a pet fox, and it became one of the weird things he was known for when he was younger.

Takahiro Suzuki

Taka is originally from Japan. He followed Fox to Canada after their whirlwind romance, and never really looked back. Although he’s travelled to Japan to visit his family many times, he’s never once regretted his choice to immigrate. He loves Fox and he loves his life in Canada. This year, he plans to stop procrastinating and finally apply for Canadian citizenship.

When he first came to Canada, he found a lot of people seemed to struggle to pronounce his name. In light of that, he decided to choose a “Canadian name” for himself. He picked David, but it never stuck, mostly because David Suzuki is the name of someone famous in Canada, and no one could quite keep a straight face when Taka would introduce himself as “David Suzuki”. These days, he’s less worried about people messing up his name and is fine with whatever people can manage.

He’s an early childhood educator and worked for several years in a local preschool. However, his dream was always to own and work in his own daycare center. Twelve years ago, he started Hands Around The World Childcare, and he’s never been happier. He didn’t initially plan it to be an international daycare, but the name seemed to attract a lot of newcomers to Canada, and now it has a reputation as a multicultural and multilingual enrichment place for kids.

Taka is musically talented. He can sing reasonably well but his real gift is playing the piano. He likes to get together with his friend Yuri to play piano & violin duets.

His favourite colour is yellow. When they were doing the interior design for their house, Fox made sure to include lots of yellow elements, just for him.

Nevertheless, you can't get rid of the feeling that David William Duchovny might have drunk a little bit over his thirst before the concert (German proverb). And suddenly, yes, suddenly the man who once wanted to complete a doctorate in English literature - before his acting career - stands in front of you. He just gets off the stage, makes a round through the Carlswerk and sings "Sweet Jane" by Velvet Underground. Unbelievable how fearless this man is. And how much he doesn't seem to care about his musical deficit.

You have to leave it to Duchovny: He really radiates joy in what he does. Like a small child who meets his new friends in front of the daycare center for the second time in the morning. Taking oneself seriously, is foreign to him. Conclusion: Musically a flop. Humanly top.

Oka Family

Let's start with Oka Family of our private gameplay, this family is composed of 6 members.

Daddy Shokichi and Daddy Hiromi, and their three little ones: two twins and a baby.

And of course Sketchy the fennec fox, who can have a bad mood with anyone but the little ones in the house.

The twins are named Hiroshi and Keichi.

Hiroshi is the one in the yellow tank top and Keichi, the one in the blue pajamas, the latter did not wish to have more siblings, he did not even want Hiroshi, he would have liked to be born as an only child.

And this is little Shosuke, the youngest member of Oka family. Although what he likes the most is to be in daddies arms. Whenever he can, goes to his furry friend Sketchy, but he also wants to spend time with his brothers Hiroshi and Keichi, although the latter doesn't like him very much.

In these photos below we can see how the dads are very attentive to their little ones, they feed and talk to them. 

And that's the daily life of Hiromi and Shokichi when they come home from work. In the time they work, the little ones are all in a daycare center and Hiromi gets off work before her husband, so he's usually the one who goes to pick them up. Although sometimes uncle Kojiro offers to keep them at home until Hiromi arrives, especially when Hiromi has a last minute delivery.

By the way, they used to live in an apartment with hardly any space to move around, but now after taking out a mortgage, they live close to their friends in a house with its own yard, so that the little ones can play. Also have the kindergarten next door.

New Gotham: Part Three

Wayne Center For Children: This center was created by my mother through the Martha Wayne Foundation as a way to offer family services to the poorer communities of Gotham City. It provides birthing and parenting classes, includes an in-house pediatric ward and daycare, and is entirely funded and paid for through donations. The upper floors have also been the home of the Gotham Child Services Agency for the past ten years. It's where I officially accepted custody of Dick after his parents' death. The Joker once stole family records from the center in an attempt to kidnap newborns and raise them as criminals. Thankfully, Dick and I managed to stop him before he put his plans in motion. To prevent this from happening again, the Kanes proposed to store all records on their secured servers for free.

Wayne Enterprises: Wayne Tower serves as the corporate headquarters to Wayne Enterprises. It was founded after World War II by my grandfather Patrick Wayne, who oversaw the building's construction. It has had many renovations and upgrades since then, most notably the entrance underneath the building which Lucius had installed so Batman could get in and out without being seen. As the years went on, more floors were added to the building as Wayne Enterprises expanded. Now each floor houses the administrative offices of one of the companies' sub- divisions, like Wayne Pharmaceuticals and Wayne Steel. The CEO of Wayne Enterprises thus oversees all of these assets. The board of directors will be handling the business if something were to happen to me, but all of my stocks will go to Dick, meaning his approval will be needed before any major decision is made. If in doubt, he can always go to Lucius for advice as he's already familiar with the company's inner workings.

Foxteca: Lucius Fox left Wayne Tech over a decade ago to found his own company, Foxteca. It has grown to become one of Gotham City's most renowned and prolific corporations. His objective was to make a tech company that would be both environmentally friendly and state-of-the-art, and he has succeeded. His son Luke also worked at the company for a time as an engineer, though he and Lucius had a disagreement and Luke has since left to pursue other ventures. Much like WayneTech, Foxteca specializes in research and development, cybersecurity, and new technologies. Lucius has a private lab where he can conduct his own personal research, which sometimes happens to be vigilante related. Notes: Ask Lucius about his drone project. Could be useful.

I interned at Foxteca for a few weeks last year, and it was really fun! I've implemented some of the things Mr. Fox showed me into my own research and it's helped a lot. - T. D.

Leslie Thompkins Clinic: Due to Gotham City General Hospital often being at capacity, I was looking for a way to help the people living in the Bowery and Otisburg. That's when my friend Leslie Thompkins contacted me with a proposition to finance her own clinic. Through the Wayne Foundation, I purchased the old Coventry Medical building which she turned into the Leslie Thompkins Clinic. It was a complete success. Eventually, Leslie retired, and her daughter Jada took over. She began championing efforts such as drug rehabilitation and safe-injection sites. Despite clear reductions in overdoses and deaths, the city didn't approve and shut down the clinic. Since then, Jada has been operating out of a van, which she drives around the city as a way to bring care to people across the city. Just like her mother, she didn't let anything stand in her way of helping people.

l've had experience with competitive battling!

On our side of the dementional rift, we don't really have much like that, actually. Our daycares take care of Pokemon for specific periods of time but only to train them. Depending on where the regional competitive games are being held (most recent and ongoing is Paldea), there are some programs that help care for extra Pokemon! There are also safety messues put in place for Pokemon in boxes.I don't know exactly how it works, but basically. they run some extra power to those reigons so the boxes are more comfortable or something

ldk all the technical stuff, but over here, it's pretty normal to have teams of 3 or 6 and not much more. Although l'm sure if you've got the money there are people who will take care of Pokemon for you.

Some San Diego Day Care Centers Have Dangerously High Levels, Report Finds." {1} One daycare, La Petit Academy in Rancho Peñasquitos, had lead levels in some of its drinking fountains at levels 2,200 times the legal acceptable limit. Keep in mind that there is no fully "safe" level of lead ingestion. Dr. Michael Young, a medical toxicologist at Kaiser Permanente, said that "even at low levels, lead can cause serious issues." Young added, “It can lead to cognitive disorders, it could decrease intelligence and a host of organ system failures, if not detected early." The article says, "NBC 7 reached out to le Petit Academy to ask about the findings. In a statement, they said that the highest lead results were from drinking fountains that had not been used since before the pandemic and that they had been removed from their site." I want to emphasize two phrases the daycare used in its statement: "the highest lead results" and "not been used since before the pandemic." Maybe it's because I read "The Monkey's Paw" at an early age, but regardless the reason, alarm bells went off in my head when I read those phrases. Not because of what the statement says, but rather, for what it does not say. Their statement clearly implies that the problem of lead in water from their drinking fountains is fixed, but that's far from what they actually said. - "The highest levels were from" specific drinking fountains. That's nice, but that does not give us any information about the lead levels for any of the other drinking fountains at the facility. That statement is true even if every other fountain in the facility exceeds the legal limits by, say, merely two thousand times instead of two thousand and two hundred times. If the other drinking fountains in the facility were within the legal limit, why didn't they say that? - "Before the pandemic" might feel like it was ages ago, but it's only been a few years. Those children who were exposed to those staggeringly high levels of lead are all less than nine years old. (The daycare takes children from 6 months to 6 years old.) This is the kind of critical reading and thinking that mainstream news {2} coverage often doesn't actually say out loud, and is usually only found on "comedic" news shows like Last Week Tonight and The Daily Show. {3} It's when those programs violate the social norms by actually saying the quiet parts out loud that helps creates their humor. Last Week Tonight in particular has run well-researched, in-depth coverage of dozens of stories that rivals that of any "mainstream" think piece out there and actually says what the story means. Those segments often have bad jokes, crazy mascots, or a long-running gag that means I hear John Oliver's voice whenever I see Adam Driver on screen, true. Regardless, that degree of basic analysis is crucial to us being well-informed. But those programs that dare rock our sensibilities are pushed to the side and not considered "real" reporting. We, the viewing public, are the problem with the news. We are voting with our attention and our dollars for this kind of obfuscation pretending to be objectivity. While mainstream news still seems to be too cowardly -- or beholden to advertising dollars -- to point out things like this, at least we have comedians who are willing to provide that kind of analysis. {1} To their credit, the reporting notes that "the San Diego center was not an outlier" because "high lead levels" were found "up and down the state." {2} Lest anyone be confused: I am not talking Fox News, OAN, and the like here at all, due to their tendency to spread misinformation and lies. Y'know, like that Dominion lawsuit which Fox settled for $787,500,000 for lying about the election. This is about reporting more facts, not fewer. {3} Over four years, Trump's "false or misleading claims" totaled 30,573 -- but it was still rare to hear them called lies in "regular" reporting until after the insurgency on Jan 6, 2021.
